Flash testing is done in order to test the functionality of Flash-based objects such as games, videos, movies etc. Automating the Flash testing process can save significant amount of time and effort as it is faster than manual testing, and the test results are also more accurate and reliable.
Selenium is an open source automated testing suite for web applications across different browsers. The challenge here is that Selenium does not support Flash testing. In Selenium Automation, XPath is required to find an element on the web page to perform an operation on that particular element. But in Flash testing, XPath fails to access Flash objects.
In order to mitigate this issue, Sikuli was used and integrated with Selenium for Flash testing.
Highlights of the case study:
- Automated the Flash-based UI testing process using Selenium
- Automated the AngularJS-based reader without any external tools such as Cucumber, Protractor
- Achieved cost efficiency and improved the accuracy of test results
