Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Accessibility Manager to drive our organization’s digital accessibility strategy, ensuring our products are fully inclusive and compliant with industry standards.
This role involves managing a team of accessibility professionals, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement accessibility practices, and overseeing accessibility initiatives to deliver an exceptional user experience for people of all abilities.
What will your day look like:
- Lead and manage end-to-end digital accessibility projects, from strategy development through implementation and compliance monitoring.
- Establish and enforce accessibility best practices, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 (or latest), ADA, Section 508, and other relevant standards.
- Partner with product management, UX/UI, development, and quality assurance teams to integrate accessibility into the design and development process.
- Conduct regular accessibility audits, including manual and automated testing, to identify areas of improvement and oversee remediation.
- Develop, document, and maintain organizational accessibility policies, standards, and training programs to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead and mentor a team of accessibility professionals, fostering a culture of inclusivity and accessibility awareness within the organization.
- Stay updated on current and emerging accessibility laws, regulations, and technologies, recommending updates to practices as needed
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience: 7-9 years of experience in digital accessibility, including at least 3 years in a managerial role overseeing accessibility initiatives.
- Advanced understanding of WCAG, ADA, Section 508, and related accessibility standards, along with demonstrated expertise in accessibility testing and remediation techniques.
- Proficiency with accessibility testing tools, including Axe, Wave, JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver, as well as manual accessibility testing methods.
- Solid experience in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and accessible coding practices.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills to advocate for accessibility with technical and non-technical
- audiences, providing clear guidance and actionable feedback.
- Leadership experience with a proven ability to build and lead high-performing, inclusive teams.
- Certification: One or more of the following certifications:
- Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
- Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)
- Certified Professional in Accessible Management (CPAM)
- Certified Usability Analyst (CUA)
- Trusted Tester Certification by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
